What Your Favorite Christmas Song Says About You

December 9th, 2011

Your favorite Christmas song speaks volumes about who you are – what kind of personality you exhibit. Whether you’re an aggressive, take charge person or a sit on the side lines and follow type, the music you listen to can give a peek into the kinds of attitudes and beliefs you have.

Different dimensions go into making us who we are as people. Psychologists have studied human behavior for years through research groups, quizzes, and surveys. They’ve gathered the data from these tests and compiled them into different categories based on the answers given by the study participants.

In these scientific tests, several different questions will be asked for each category. The study takes into consideration where you live at the present time and where you resided as a child, because our environment plays a role in our music choice based on the influence of our upbringing.

Educational background, both of the parents and your own, will be factored into the results as well. By taking part in these tests, psychologists have been able to accurately pinpoint people who are introverts or extroverts. Hard to believe that a simple test can tell whether you’re a social butterfly or low-key, but it can.

You can take part in one of these scientific studies to see what it will show about you. Some of the aspects of your personality you might already be well aware of, but the results could surprise you.

Even Christmas songs will show your personality. People who actively seek to give to others through charity work, financial donations or who give of their time to improve others’ lives tend to listen to more traditional Christmas songs such as Silent Night or Hark the Herald Angels Sing. Most people in this group enjoy reading and they enjoy listening to classical music as well as traditional Christmas songs.

For people who are career oriented, Christmas songs with a rock beat are usually the tunes of choice. While they enjoy the traditional songs, they prefer the more modern versions.

They thrive on life in the fast lane and get an adrenaline rush from handling seemingly insurmountable tasks. More often than not, their motto is “bring it on!” They enjoy pitting themselves against nature by taking part in outdoor activities that require stamina and skill such as white water rafting or jumping from an airplane.

People who prefer soft, jazzier Christmas music tend to be introverted and will often find themselves feeling a bit melancholy. These people are more open minded and highly intelligent. They also usually keep their finances in tip top shape and are highly organized people. Check into a personality quiz and see what your kind of preferred Christmas song says about your life.

As you get older, you start to think about your past experiences. You even question yourself at times, especially if you feel as if you haven’t really achieved anything. Still, you shouldn’t be too hard on yourself because while you can’t do anything about what’s past, you can still do something about your future.

You do have dreams you have yet to make. Reminisce about your past because you’ve learned something from every experience. Sometimes, it’s all a matter of applying what you’ve learned.

When you were young, you had big dreams. You embarked on a career that you thought would take you far. However, not everyone can achieve their childhood dreams. Things change and sometimes, you have to adjust to that change, even put your goals on hold for a while. But then again, that might also just take too much time. Years later, you begin to wonder where your life has gone. A lot of people have lived with regrets simply because they took too long. This isn’t a healthy way to look at things. Age is just numbers, and therefore, you can still go for what you want no matter how old you are.

Continue to learn and think about what you want out of life. You’ll come across people who inspire you. Let them be your mentors. You can learn from people you meet, and inside everyone is a great mind. It’s not about copying your idols and doing what they do. You also have to personalize your goals because you are your own person. Just bring together everything you’ve learned and see how you can apply all these in your life. And make a promise to yourself. You have to start taking the necessary steps right now. The sooner you start, the sooner things will fall together. You’ll also start to realize that when it comes to working for what you want, time is irrelevant.

Hence, now is the perfect time to strategize. See how you can merit your way to the top. Research, research, and research some more. Sometimes, you hesitate to take a step further because you get overwhelmed with the amount of work involved. You will soon settle down, and that’s something you can take comfort in. When the time does come for you to take it easy, you know that you’ve done everything in your power to make your life better.

Just don’t forget that sometimes, you will need help. You will turn to your friends, colleagues, and loved ones for support. The ones that care for you will give you what you need. Be grateful and learn to appreciate the many wonderful things people will do for you.

To truly be happy in your success, you shouldn’t forget where you came from and who helped you. The more people respect you, the easier it will be to do well. Yes, you will commit mistakes, but you have someone telling you that this isn’t the end of the world. So, embark on a journey and relish the moments that you’ll have.

How Do You See Things

August 2nd, 2011

Are You an Optimist or a Pessimist?

There are easy ways to tell if you’re an optimist or a pessimist. An optimist looks for the silver lining in every storm cloud, the positive in every bad circumstance, or the good in every person.

The pessimist on the other hand is always waiting for the other shoe to drop, just knowing something bad is about to happen. He’s always on the lookout for the negative because of his attitude.

Even if something good happens, he believes it to be a fluke, a one time occurrence. Someone else gets the good job, the happy life, the peace within – but never him because he knows it won’t last. If he does get the job he’s always dreamed of, he’s waiting for a demotion or waiting for the company to close up shop.

The pessimist lives in the land of what could happen (and always thinks it’s that bad things that could happen) rather than staying focused on the present. He shines the spotlight of his thoughts and emotions always on whatever is bad.

The optimist is persistent in his life’s pursuits and treats failing to achieve any of his goals as being one step closer to achieving success. But a pessimist sees failing as the ultimate end and often quits, never to try again.

An optimist and pessimist both experience life’s ups and downs – it’s how they react to those experiences that label them as positive or negative people. Optimists are more content in life and when trouble does arrive on the scene, they roll up their sleeves and get to work finding a solution. They attract people to them and find it easier to form lasting friendships because others are drawn to positive people.

Pessimistic people tend to be more narcissistic than optimistic people. Usually this stems from negative situations they’ve encountered that have wounded them. In some cases, they’ve had expectations that haven’t come to pass and they’ve had great disappointments that made them learn not to hope for any good.

What many people don’t understand is that while they can’t predict their future and can’t stop things from happening in life, they can control their behavior. The old saying ‘act don’t react’ means that you can decide before any situation what your attitude will be about it.

In other words, you have a choice whether to be an optimist or a pessimist. You can pick whether you want to be happy and to be at peace with yourself. It starts by controlling what you think.

What you dwell on in your thought life can determine how you view your world and the people in it. If you always expect people to be unkind to you, then you give off an air of expectation, a protective shield, unconsciously pushing people away from you.

Pessimistic people alienate others by their actions and speech, which is sad because some pessimistic people could do and be so much with a little adjustment with their outlook on life.
