Forgiveness Can Give You Unlimited Power

22 Nov

If we want to achieve happiness, contentment, balance our lives, and have optimal health we must learn to forgive. It may seem difficult if not impossible, but we must let go of past hurts and absolve those who have inflicted pain upon us.

How do you forgive someone that has inflicted extreme pain upon you? A first reaction would be to get reveange, make them pay, hurt them back , and other more primitive solutions.  However, this is not the ideal way to move forward. You will never achieve the clearness you need to find peace, lower stress and live a healthy life if you are constantly resentful and blaming another for what they did to you.

Learning to forgive will help you mend deep wounds and help you extinguish smaller stings that come your way. By letting go of the smaller issues it will allow you to deal more effectively with the serious and dangerous issues that come your way.

People who learn to forgive find their anger levels deminish, stress is lifted from their shoulders, blood pressure improves, overall health improves, and their outlook on life becomes more positive and hopeful. It has also been shown that getting rid of anger, hatred, and envy will help improve your immune system which is vital to lower your risk of illness.

Getting hurt is not easy, but looking at the brighter side of life is so much easier and allow you to see how much better life can be.

Begin by just letting your heart soften. You will quickly find your emotional health improving.

It is crucial that you admit your anger and understand how you feel deep down inside when you have been hurt. Your recovery will be much faster if you refuse to dwell on the circumstances and feel sorry for yourself.

Some of us feel we are placing ourselves at risk for further hurt if we chose to forgive. Forgiveness does not mean you are saying that it is okay for the other person to hurt you.  Forgiving does not require that you ever trust again the one that hurt you. It will allow you to release some of the anger that has built over time and begin to look at things from a different perspective. You may then find that you are able step back and hear the other side of the story. Listening may require you confront some of the shadows in your own past, but in the end it will help you clear your mind of many of the unanswered questions about why you were hurt.

Starting today, look into the future and stop looking back. Use forgiveness as a tool to help you optimize your mental and physical health. Forgiveness is usually seen as a way of helping another, but in reality you are benefiting yourself.
